Rachels L'Osteria...formerly known as Rachels Wood Grill of Portland's Old Port for the last 7 years...is very happy to say that she has been fortunate enough to have found a newly renovated 81 year old storefront for the home for her new kitchen and dining room.

While the Old Port did serve her well, the hope is to provide both old customers and new alike the same great Mediterranean food and dining philosophy.

Rachels L'OSTERIA is a dream manifested. We are a small, chef-owned restaurant offering exciting Mediterranean and Italian-style dining. Taking yearly trips to Italy, the chef/owners, Robert and Laura Butler, are in constant pursuit of special dining experiences, which is so evident in Tuscany and surrounding areas. The food is fresh, in season, local, and always cooked with personal attention.

Of equal importance is our 250-label, award-winning wine list. The emphasis is on Italian wines from a variety of regions, along with some later vintages of California Cabernets. We also carry a great many small boutique wines and offer many of them by the glass. We pay close attention to the harmony of our menu and wine list, and encourage our customers to enjoy appetizers and a great glass or bottle of wine as well as dinner.
